Nothing defines a youthful appearance like a well sculpted neck. Perhaps the most effective and least invasive treatment to rejuvinate the neck is neck liposuction. Cervicofacial liposuction (neck liposuction) often is combined with other procedures  such as a facelift, forehead lift, chin augmentation, etc. However, when an isolated collection of neck fat and jowling occurs in an otherwise well supported neck, cervicofacial liposuction may provide excellent esthetic results as a single procedure.

 

The procedure is usually performed under a combination of sedation or anesthesia with tumescent local anesthesia. Three or more very small incisions are made under the chin and behind the ears. The neck, lower face and jaw line are gently sculpted. The skin is redraped into a more supported position. The small incisions are closed with fine sutures and paper tapes. A comfortable sateen neck support is placed postoperatively  to help the neck skin stay firm. It is worn continuously for the first few days, then only at night for a week or so longer.

 

Typically, a light amount of swelling and bruising occurs which  resolves within a week or so. Over time the neck skin continues to contract further firming the neck. Sutures are removed in five to seven days.
